Setup a 20x20m square of cones approximately 15m from the kicker (B). (C) starts from a cone about 10m from the kicker. Two attackers must start at the front of the square of cones (D), while one attacker starts on the back edge of the square (E). The 2 defenders can start anywhere inside the square. Setup these playing fields at both ends for more player involvement.
Coach or injured player (A) gives a slightly looping handball or roll to (B) who is facing away from goals. As soon as (A) handballs, defender (C) charges in towards (B)
(B) gathers, turns and decide who is the best attacker to deliver a kick to. All three attackers have made leads to space, and will be covered by 2 defenders.
Remember a longer kick if more risky, but will give a closer shot on goal.
Teammates should be conscious of whether the kicker is a let or right footer when leading.
(C) can give (B) a little shove in the side to put them off if (B) hesitates too long and is caught.
If (B) gets a kick away, the defenders can attempt to spoil. As soon as the ball is marked or spills, stop the drill.
Quickly reset with the players in the same starting position and repeat 3-5 times so the kicker gets some good practice. Then all attackers rotate (B to D, one from D to E, E to B), and rotate the defenders so everyone takes turn as the chaser (C). After all attackers have been the kicker, swap the defenders with attackers.
