Streaming Attack, Streaming Defence
  • Purpose
    This is a gut running drill involving attackers transitioning downfield unopposed to score before defenders can apply pressure. Then a second full-oval effort is required as players work back to defend.

  • Form 2 evenly matched teams of up to 8 players, +1 can be kicker (D). Everyone starts behind the goal square edge.
  • On 'go', (D) kicks to any player from team (A). The object is for team (A) to transition the full length of the oval and score a goal.
    Depending on numbers, (D) can optionally stay put (injured player/coach) or become part of (A)'s attack.
  • Meanwhile team (B) must run the far boundary through a cone gate before they cut infield and apply pressure on team (A).
    If (A) fumble, this will give (B)'s time to apply pressure.
  • (A) takes a shot when in range (running shots only - set shots not allowed).
  • Once the ball goes through the goal, (A)'s attack back the other way (i.e. they attack to both ends). Starter (C) has a second ball and kicks-in while (B)'s must scramble to defend.
    (C) can optionally stay put (if injured/coach) or become part of (A)'s transition.
    Players will be tired, so must work really hard to get back to cover and apply pressure.
  • Continue until a ball-up, turnover or shot on goal occurs.
  • Let players have a breather, reset. Next turn, team (B) become attackers, up then back..
  • Progression: (A)'s attack one way, (B)'s the other.
    (C) switches teams to become (B)'s player kicking-in.
