Split into 2 teams of even numbers. Extra single is always on the team with the football. This drill starts with handball and progresses to a kick. For handball, the circle should have a radius of about 3m (depending on squad numbers); for kicking 25-40m, depending on how difficult you want to make it. Team (A) has 1 player start in the middle, and everyone else spreads out around the circle. Team (B) line up at a point just outside the circle.
Coach yells 'go!' and (A) handballs the ball to a teammate on the circle. Meanwhile, the first player in line (B) takes off and must complete 3 laps around the circle.
If the ball is caught, 1 point is scored.
Have the team yell out their score after each successfully executed disposal.
(A)'s handballs to every teammate around the circle. When they handball to a player for the second time, that player replaces them in the middle.
Teams need to be switched on to remember who this is.
Optional penalty of 5 push-ups if they get it wrong.
Team (A)'s turn is over once every player in (B) has done 3 laps around the circle.
(A) let (B) know the score to beat.
(A) and (B) swap places and repeat
Determine the winner, then move the circle out to a distance suitable for a kick
Repeat the same concept for kicking, the only difference being that the runners only needs to run 2 laps instead of 3.
