  • Mark a playing zone 50m wide with a 25m long "no-go-zone" in the middle. Split into attackers and defenders. All attackers are involved, defenders total 50% of the number of attackers (e.g. if 10 attackers then 5 defenders, round-up if uneven), with the remaining defenders sitting out.
  • Attackers and defenders decide how they want to apportion their team up each end. There must be a minimum of 1 player from each team up each end.
Defenders, for example, could choose to overload one end with an extra player or two.
  • The objective is for attackers to kick OVER the "no-go-zone" (C) and for a teammate to take a mark. Every time this happens, attackers score 1 point.
Attackers have the weight of numbers, so should be able to find loose players.
Attackers can also kick to other players up their end, but don't score points for these kicks - they are simply to spread the defence.
  • Give attacking team 2 minutes, then stop, take a breather, and call out the score.
  • Swap attacking and defending teams (sidelined players enter, 50% of attackers from previous turn exit). Try beating the score.
  • If it's windy, change ends before the second time a team attacks.
