Assign 4 defenders who start on cones 1-4. Injured player or assistant can be final receiver (D), remaining players form even numbers on cones (A - B - C).
To start the drill, the coach rolls the ball towards A, B or C, and simultaneously calls out the number of one of the defenders (a number between 1 and 4). This defender becomes active and can run to the contest.
Attackers (A - B - C) use run and quick hands to draw the player and work the ball to (D). Stationary defenders who didn't get their number called by the coach can't move, but can still intercept and tackle should the ball or a player come too close.
No kicking allowed

Have several rounds of 3 v 1 to warm-up. Progress by calling TWO numbers at the start, e.g. 'ONE!' 'FOUR', which allows both those players to run, making it a 3 v 2.
Rotate defenders after several turns. For seniors, you can progress to a 3 v 3 for maximum difficulty.
