Give then Protect Handball
  • Purpose
    Players must be conditioned to keep running after disposing of the ball, rather than stopping, assuming their involvement is over. This drill trains players to run to assist the person they have given the ball to with a shepherd and instruction.

  • (A) handballs to (B) who is running towards (C), then runs behind (B), feigning a shepherd and instructing with voice
    (A) feigns a shepherd by getting near (B) and outstretching arms
    (A) then runs to the opposite cone (3) rather than going to (B)'s cone
  • (B) handballs to (C) who is running towards (D), then runs behind (C), feigning a shepherd and instructing with voice
    (B) then runs to the opposite cone (4) rather than going to (C)'s cone
  • This is repeated by all players around the square
    Players run to their opposite cone rather than the cone they give to, e.g. (A) to (3), (B) to (4), (C) to (1), (D) to (2)
