  • Choose 4 leading forwards (B & C) and 2 defenders (D) to stand them. Remaining players line-up at (A).
  • Coach or assistant rolls the ball in front of (A), who sprints out and crumbs it.
  • The instant (A) has picked-up, first (B & C) offer leads for (A), while first defender (D) chooses one to defend
This rare 2-on-1 situation should provide (A) a clear target
    (D) should hassle the player who looks most likely to get the ball, by examining the angle (A) is approaching from
  • (A) steadies and kicks to the best option of (B & C). Defender (D) spoils if possible.
    (A) should steady and balance before the kick.
Kicks at this stage should be no more than 30m.
  • Once the ball is delivered, return the ball to (A), then the four players involved quickly clear out.
Warn players to get out of the area quickly after their turn
    (A) returns ball to coaches pile of balls
  • Next trio in the goalsquare prepare for the next contest. As soon as the area is clear, coach rolls a second ball for next (A).
  • Progression 1: Tumble the ball so the bounce makes it increasingly difficult to pick up.
Leading forwards MUST hold their lead until the player has possession and adjust their lead to make the kick easier.
  • Progression 2: Lengthen kicks to 35-45m.
  • Progression 3: Add a second line adjacent to, but slightly behind (A), containing 2 rotating defenders. Each turn a defender chases down (A) to add pressure to their kick.
Allow tackling for senior teams if prepared for body contact, otherwise just allow the chasing player to tag/lightly push the player.
If tackling is allowed, players must be able to roll the player in the tackle to avoid getting in-the-back.
