Attack to Defence
  • Purpose
    Running with the ball always seems easier than running to chase, however players must do both with equal intensity. This drill practices running the ball in lines with handball, then chasing hard once a turnover has occurred.

  • Line (A) start with the ball, running and handballing sideways to each other towards line (B), who stay on the cones.
  • Once line (A) is 10m away from line (B), the ball is kicked over the head of line (B) players to coach at (D).
  • Coach (D) marks and handballs to a player in line (B). Avoiding collisions with oncoming line (A) players, line (B) work the ball with handball towards the cones at the other end.
  • Meanwhile line (A) players sprint until they reach the cones at (B), then turn and give chase to line (B) players from behind.
    If a player is caught, simply tag them, don''''''''t tackle them
  • Once line (B) are 10m away from next Line (A) the ball is kicked to coach (C), who handballs to next line (A)
  • Once line (B) reach the cones at (A), they turn and sprint, giving chase to next line (A)
