9 active players participate each turn. 5 attackers (A-E) and 4 defenders who stand in the 'flooded zone' (striped area) a kick behind play. Players not participating also stand in flooded zone to demonstrate the congestion.
(B - C - D) line up in an arc - you can start with cones get players familiar with these starting positions. Under match conditions, players would take similar positions after a free kick.
(A) looks ahead and sees bodies everywhere. (B) provides the first lead and (A) honours with a short, lateral kick
(B) should make their lead a little sneaky (half-paced at first) so not to draw the attention of a defender.
The kick is dangerous and must be well executed
Once (C) sees (B) will be used, they sprint into space on the fat side to receive the next kick in the chain.
Similarly, (D) who starts deepest leads laterally to receive (C)'s pass, then plays-on and hits leading (E) with a pass.
Point out how much space (E) has to lead into, thanks to the switch.
Practice skills only for the few turns by making defenders stay in the flooded-zone. Then up-the-ante by allowing 1 defender to leave the zone and apply pressure each time the ball is kicked.
First defender can roam freely after (A) kicks, second defender can roam freely after (B) kicks, and so-on
Make sure defenders are spread throughout the flooded zone, as per the diagram, not all deep.
Pressure can be optionally light pushing or tackling.
