7-station Multi-skill
  • Purpose
    A drill practicing multiple skills using 7 stations. Two players are involved in follow-up disposals, two practice ground ball pickups, an optional marking contest, plus players must time their run to be front and square.

  • Form equal numbers behind cones (A) to (G), optionally choose a defender to compete at (E). After disposal, players progress to next station to receive the ball, EXCEPT (A) and (E) - the players who have 2 possessions - they join a different cone and might forget this anomoly, so the point should be emphasised.
  • (A) handballs to (B) then prepares to receive another possession
  • (B) tumbles a handball to (C) who crumbs and handballs on-the-up to (A) for their second possession.
    (B) should make the ball spin awkwardly and make (C) bend as low as possible
    (C) must keep the ball in front of them
  • (A) handballs wider to (D) who runs and kicks long to leading (E)
    Remember, (A) must not follow their second handball and join station (D), they need to about-face and sprint to station (B)
  • After marking, (E) gives a quick handball to (F) who has made front and square position. (E) then prepares to receive another possession
  • (F) tumbles the ball, by foot or hand to (G) who crumbs and handballs on-the-up to (E) for their second possession.
  • (E) runs and kicks short to stationary (A), completing the loop
    Don't forget, (E) must not follow their kick and join station (A), they need to about-face and sprint to station (F)
    Although (A) doesn't lead, they should still leap and take the ball in the air.
  • For added difficulty, assign a defender to create a marking contest at (E), who can either spoil, tackle, or both. Swap this defender after several minutes with another player.
    This defender will disrupt the flow of the drill, so only use with greater numbers on the track and 2 balls in circulation.
