Create a 15m square (A), and an 'endzone' (C) 15m long about 10m away from the square. Hand out 3 opposition tops per group. Four attackers in yellow start inside the square, as do two defenders. Another defender (B) who cannot enter the square stands between the square and endzone.
The 4 attackers in yellow must work the ball around inside the square with handball, keeping the ball off the 2 defenders. Defenders can optionally tackle, or for younger kids/lighter sessions, just tag the attackers. The drill ends when
The player is tackled and doesn't get a handball away before being deemed holding the ball
The ball is intercepted and spills loose
The player with the ball is touched (if tagging only)
After 15-30 seconds of working the ball around the square, blow the whistle or yell 'break'. Players must then work the ball with hands past the 3 defenders and into the end zone.
Depending on numbers you may have several playing arenas, or if there is just one arena, swap the attackers. Swap the defenders after a few turns.
As a variation to increase difficulty, you may have 5 vs 3 inside the square.
